I am new to the Uniden SDS100 and SDS200. I have one of each; the 100 for the truck and the 200 with a mast-mounted Discone for beside my chair. I am completely ignorant to the proper use of quick keys and the best strategy for using favorites lists to my advantage.So I recently purchased an SDS100 with the DMR upgrade. The receive quality doesnt even compare to any of the HTs I have. Walking down the street, sitting inside or even both hooked up to similar outdoor antennas, and before anyone asks yes ive tried swapping the antennas (outdoor) on the SDS and HT. You are going to need an amplified speaker. The only jack on the SDS100 is the headphone jack which has very limited power so you don't blow your eardrums out. Of course that speaker will also require power. I ran the SDS100 alongside the IC R30 for three hours yesterday in my office. The IC-R30 far outperformed the SDS100 and rarely stopped, opened squelch without good clear voice traffic.
